Welcome to the Southern Sierra's, Start your journey with the Mill Creek Communities of Mountain Home Village and Forest Falls and continue on to the plateau community of Angelus Oaks.
MOUNTAIN HOME VILLAGEA little more than a mile into the canyon you pass the Thurman Flats picnic grounds and arrive in Mountain Home Village. Don't blink or you will surely miss this small hamlet tucked away between Highway 38 and year 'round Mill Creek and surrounded by National Forest At an elevation of 3800 feet Mountain Home Village has about 170 full time residents, enjoys mean summer temperatures of 88° days and 70° nights and winter mean temperatures of 48° days and 36° nights. Average rainfall is about 40. with snowfall that sticks being minimal, seldom requiring chains. Bus service is available for the Yucaipa schools that serve the village. With the exception of Burgess Photo which acts as the community focal point and the Loch Leven Christian Conference Center there are no services in Mountain Home Village. Fire protection is provided by the San Bernardino County Fire Department via Forest Falls Station #128 and Law Enforcement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office. FOREST FALLSLeave scenic Highway 38 just 3 miles above Mountain Home Village and continue up Mill Creek Canyon. Gentle curves and majestic vistas introduce you to one of natures wonderlands, Valley of the Falls. Surrounded by National Forest with precipitous Yucaipa Ridge to the South and the San Gorgonio Wilderness to the North, year 'round waterfalls, peaks, crags, and an abundance of giant trees… it is a wonder. Many refer to Forest Falls as "little Yosemite".
Our own Fallsvale Elementary School is operated by the Big Bear Unified School District and serves the communities of Angelus Oaks and Forest Falls with inter district transfers available for Mountain Home Village. Daily bus service is provided to Moore Junior High and Redlands East Valley High School, part of the Redlands Unified School District. Fire and Rescue Service is provided by a 20 member Paid Call Firefighter force operating from the Forest Falls Station #128, a part of the San Bernardino County Fire Department. Law Enforcement is provided by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office which includes a resident deputy that lives in our neighboring community of Angelus Oaks. The Sheriffs office also coordinates the local Valley of the Falls Search and Rescue Team. Services offered locally include: Elkhorn General Store, 909.794.1212. El Mexicano Café 909.794.3186. Cabinn of the Falls vacation rental. Forest Falls Lodge comfortable mountain lodging. Jessica's Treasures, San Gorgonio Wildlife Gallery, Coyote Unlimited Gallery and vacation rentals. Valley of the Falls Community Church, Forest Falls Seventh Day Adventist Church. Forest Home Christian Conference Center. Big Falls Lodge event rentals. Utilities: Verizon provides our telephone and DSL service, cellular phone service should be available soon. Edison (SCE) for power. Propane gas is used exclusively and supplied by several companies who serve the area. Three water companies serve our community, Fallsvale Service Co., Big Pine Tract, and Forest Park Mutual. Satellite TV is available in most locations plus cable tv is provided by Charter Communications.
Natural Disasters: From time to time our area is subject to natural disasters with the results often being as inconvenient as a short term road closure to less frequent but more intense issues that can result from flooding, heavy winter storm, earthquake, wildfire and whatever else mother nature can throw at us. Maps and reports about actual and predicted disaster events can be viewed at either Gillmore Real Estate office. While taking natural disasters seriously, one of our caveats is "we would rather dodge boulders than bullets" and what sets us apart from city folks is that we epitomize the definition of "community." When things are normal everyone goes about their busy lives but, to quote Joseph P. Kennedy, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going" and nowhere is that more obvious than in Angelus Oaks, Forest Falls and Mountain Home Village where neighbors take care of neighbors and various responses to disaster situations have been planned and rehearsed over the years.

Local News: Seasonally our local paper, The Bear Facts, is published for the tri-communities of Angelus Oaks, Forest Falls and Mountain Home Village. Daily news can be obtained from several newspapers that report on our area from time to time and include: Yucaipa News Mirror, Redlands Daily Facts, Press Enterprise, and for those who wish to be entertained with a lot of hype and sensationalism but little fact there is The Sun. Travel Times: Redlands/Yucaipa, 15-20 min. San Bernardino, 30 minutes. Riverside central, 55 minutes. Palm Springs, 45 minutes, Los Angeles, 1.5 hour. Current Weather. Nothing is more accurate than the live weather station operated by Forest Home Inc.. located one mile high (5200') in Forest Falls.
